Minor Requirements
The McCormick School of Engineering offers TGS-approved interdepartmental minors that enable students to enhance their credentials and marketability. The minor may only be pursued by McCormick master’s students in conjunction with a full-time degree program. For a list of available minors and links to specific minor requirements, visit the Master’s with Interdepartmental Minors page on McCormick’s website.
Coursework
- Students must complete at least three quality letter-graded course units (ABC, not P/NP or S/U) authorized for graduate credit. Individual minors may require additional courses or specific course requirements. See the descriptions for additional information.
- The Graduate School permits courses taken in excess of the minimum nine letter-graded units required for the master's degree to be counted toward both the master's degree and a graduate minor. Programs may have stricter requirements.
- Students who wish to pursue multiple minors may not count the same coursework for more than one minor.
Minor Awarding
- Minors will only be noted on the student’s transcript once the master’s degree is conferred. In the event a student does not earn the master's degree, the minor will not be posted.
- Questions should be directed to gradservices@northwestern.edu.
