Space Engineering

Space is humanity’s next frontier, one with unprecedented challenges and great opportunities. In addition to addressing pressing climate, health, and sustainability challenges on earth, humanity must simultaneously invest in the future. Northwestern can help propel humanity's foray into the next frontier by creating a cross-cutting Space Engineering program, doubling down on McCormick’s strengths in materials, mechanics, autonomous systems, communication systems, energy and advanced manufacturing to help humanity sustainably get to space, thrive in space, and benefit from space. NU’s Space Engineering program seeks to offer a forward-looking vision threading extreme engineering and science, differentiating it from its peers, and aligning with student and industry interest. McCormick has the opportunity with Weinberg, Feinberg, and Kellogg to define the scientific, engineering, social and economic foundations key to thriving in space and other remote and extreme environments.
